New Blog coming soon

By Elliot Swan

I've got a new blog coming soon, should be out within the next few days-- New domain for it as well. It'll be using wordpress instead of this, and I must say, I'm pretty impressed with wordpress and how easy it is to theme it.

Boot to the Head

Boot to the head

Click the link at the top of that page to listen to the funniest audio I've heard in a while. Don't read the text on that page, it's the script for the audio so it will give it away.

Now if you'll excuse me while I go to meditate on this wisdom now.

Apple wants license for selling music videos

By Elliot Swan

Music Videos May Be Coming to iPods

An iPod with video? Apple Computer Inc. has been talking to several major recording companies, looking to license the sale of music videos through the popular iTunes music site, The Wall Street Journal reported in Monday's editions.

I must say, I don't like the sound of selling music videos. Music videos have always been an advertisement of sort for an album release, and free for the public to listen to and watch. If Apple wants to sell them now, then I suppose that means there could be restrictions coming on them? Unless they're significantly cheaper than songs (which I really can't see coming), I know I won't be buying any. Who really cares about watching somebody lip synch their own song in a room full of candles?

No, "A Hard Day's Night" doesn't count as a music video. And Weird Al's an exception.

Flickr

By Elliot Swan

Well, I got a flickr account. So far I'm pretty impressed, though I wish they gave you more bandwidth for free. But hey, what can you expect? That stuff costs money.

Anyways, here's mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/elliothere/

I might see if I can integrate it some with my blog, but I'm not yet sure if it's possible.

Creative Zen Micro has Arrived

By Elliot Swan

I got my Zen Micro on Thursday, so I've been playing around with it lately. So far I believe I've put 114 songs on it, and have recorded a few things both with the mic and off of the radio--I must say, I'm fairly impressed.

Several people who have used the Zen Micro have complained of having difficulty in the navagation, but within 30 minutes I was getting around it just fine. You just have to mess around with it a little to figure out how it works, and before you know it you're flying all over.

I don't really like the earphones as they are a touch bigger than I would like, causing uncomfort to my ears, but that can be replaced.

Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith

By Elliot Swan

At 10:00pm last night I was standing outside the theater, waiting with 1,500 other people to watch the final episode of Star Wars. There were some who had been their at least all day, as there was even a tent set up. Well, they sure didn't waste their time, because

It. Was. Genius.

I thought that in the first 40 minutes of the film there was a lot of stuff that really didn't have to be in there (some of it did, but not a ton), and just looked kind of cheesy. But after that...

Genius.

Lucas ties everything in almost perfectly, and consciously avoids making some of the same mistakes he made in Eps I and II. I had always had a hard time seeing the Anakin in Eps. I and II as Darth Vader, but Lucas again did a brilliant job of making it happen, and I now have no trouble what-so-ever imagining Anakin in the Darth Vader suit.

Don't miss this one. I don't know if I've ever seen a masterpiece movie, but Star Wars Episode II: Revenge of the Sith comes within arms reach of it. In fact, it delivers so well it almost makes up for the other prequals.

Got my ticket for Starwars tonight (or more like tomorrow) at 12:01 AM--Man am I going to be tired tomorrow. The reviews look awesome, and so have the trailers.

I've got my standing ovation all ready for when they finally kill off JarJar.

Creative Zen Micro

By Elliot Swan

I'm thinking about buying a Creative Zen Micro MP3 player, they look completely awesome. I know, it's not an iPod, but honestly, the Zen looks like a way better buy.

FM radio, mic, recording from the radio, 5 gig hard drive, I mean this thing looks awesome.

Hoobastank and Fencing, Fencing and Hoobastank

By Elliot Swan

I had a fencing tournament yesterday and another one today...I'm not too pleased with my performance yesterday. <_< I learned a lot though, and I have plans for today. *evil grin* Lets see how it turns out.

I've been listening to some Hoobastank songs lately, "Out of Control" and "Same Direction." They are quite different than their last big single, "The Reason." I'm loving these songs, and considering buying the CD.

I find "Same Direction" extremely interesting lyrically, as well. You can read them for yourselves here: "Same Direction" lyrics. I'd love to hear what you think of them. :)

Well that's all for now.

Haven't posted for a few days

By Elliot Swan

I haven't posted in a few days, so I figured I'd better.

I'm planning a new site a long with a couple of other guys who were willing to help me out. So far it's code-named "Questions," and that's very much what it shall be about. More updates will be coming later after it's a little bit more planned out, so you'll just have to wait in the suspense for now.

PR Update

By Elliot Swan

Google gave us a PR update last night...

For Uppervent.com, my homepage stayed the same (2), but my message boards index jumped to 3 and all the threads are now at 1. Kind of bizzare...

For this site I jumped from 0 to 2 (site just opened since the last update).

Elliot Swan Designs is now at 2, but I can't remember what it was at before...I think it was mostlikely at 0.

What about you guys?

Tool's Maynard James Keenan: 'heh heh'

By Elliot Swan

On March 31 Tool's Maynard James Keenan claimed to have "found jesus" when MTV emailed and asked about Tool's website claim that he had become a Christian. Not quite believing it and wondering if he had lied to them they emailed him again, this time getting the response of "heh heh."

Now there's another post on their website, one that could be summed up to "April Fools."

Tool's Maynard James Keenan Found Jesus Too??

By Elliot Swan

Tool's Maynard James Keenan Says He's Found Jesus

Nobody's sure if it's an April Fools joke yet or not, but if it's real...DUDE.

From toolband.com:

I wish this post was dated April 1, but, unfortunately, it isn't. Like a doctor giving a patient a straight, honest answer to a medical diagnosis, without sugar-coating the truth, here's exactly what I was told: "Maynard has found Jesus."

I don't know who wrote that, it was posted on March 31 and there's a lot of gaps in it, so I'm still wondering.

Brian Head Welch wrote an email to MTV News saying that "This is a beautiful, beautiful outpouring of the Holy Spirit." It sure could be.

Wow....

By Elliot Swan

Wow.

I just looked in my stats for this blog, and was amazed to see that it's had almost 140 unique vists in the past 4 days of this month.

It seems a lot of folks have been coming from searches on Brian Head Welch, ex-guitarist of KoRn, who is now professing to Christianity. Well, I hope you find what you're looking for, and continue to stick around. :-)

P2P in Court

By Elliot Swan

Regarding the P2P trial...

I could almost go with the prosecutors on this one by saying that it was created for the main purpose of illegal activity, but I think the fact that there is nothing wrong with P2P software in itself causes problems.

From the PCWorld.com article:

If the entertainment industry gets its way, e-mail service providers could conceivably be required to monitor their customers' sent e-mail for copyright materials, or a photo storage Web site like Snapfish.com could be required to check its customers uploaded files for copyright content, Erickson says. New rules supported by the entertainment industry would affect the "entire Internet and most of the technology industry," he says.

That's scary. Not because they're trying to stop piracy, but because they have no right in my emails. And though it does seem a touch far-fetched I can actually see that happening in the future, if the entertainment industry does indeed get its way.

Guess What....

By Elliot Swan

It's Easter Sunday. So happy Easter, everone!

You know, that's kind of weird... We say "merry" for Christmas and "happy" for everything else. If I, just for the fun of it, decided to switch them around I can just imagine all the funny looks I'd get.

Creed

I was just listening to some Creed today, man that's some awesome music.

You know what would be really cool? If they got back together for a reunion tour... There's a ton of money to be made on something like that.

Update On Me

By Elliot Swan

Well, I haven't posted on here for a couple of days, so I figured I should probably do so. This post isn't really dedicated to any particular subject, just an update on a few aspects of my life.

And so ends the happy updates on me. With posts like this, one has to wonder why anybody would bother to read this thing.

Star Wars Episode III "too strong" for Youngsters

By Elliot Swan

Looks like the third in the series and the last in the making, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, may end up with a PG-13 slapped on it. Lucus says it is " more dark, more emotional. It's much more of a tragedy."

Well, at least we shouldn't end up with another Episode I fiasco... That is, as long as they kill off JarJar early.

Head releases first song on his completed website

By Elliot Swan

Head to Christ

There's a full website there now, including his first song.

I must say, the new song was not quite what I was expecting--I believe he did all of it himself, including vocals. Listen to it for yourself, and tell me what you think.

On his site he also speaks of his new LP that will be coming out "shortly after arriving from Israel," which is where he is right now being baptised:

I'm gonna finish my record quick and then sell it on my website. That way there is no hands on the money that I make, so i can give it back to my people by building something positive like a skatepark or something

He also has an email address where people can email suggestions of what should be done with the money.

I Have an Urge

By Elliot Swan

I have an urge right now.

I want to crank out some good (notice the bold) music, spin that volume dial to "ear blasting," and headbang until the whiplash stops me. Yes, I have an urge.

There's just one (again, notice the bold) small problem. I can't find anything good to listen to. I can spin that volume dial, headbang, and get whiplash to my heart's content; but I can't find any good music.

Oh don't take me wrong, there's a ton of good music out there; it's just that I've listened to most of it until every last drop of enjoyment has been squeezed out of it, leaving me with the dry peals of a song.

So this is my request, my plea: Musicians, hurry up and release something. I'm getting restless.

Disclaimer: I don't really want whiplash, and I would highly discourage it as I really have given it to myself by headbanging.

FireFox 1.1 Released

By Elliot Swan

Mozilla has released their first update to FireFox since the big release of version 1.0. They encourage all FireFox users to update to the newest version (1.1), as they have fixed several security fixes.

In their Press Release Chris Hofmann states that "The Mozilla Foundation has developed a community of users and developers who continuously provide feedback on Mozilla software, and as a result of that constant vigilance, we are able to provide quick and effective responses to security vulnerabilities."

Head to Christ | KoRn guitarist

By Elliot Swan

I'm currently waiting for Head To Christ to launch; I can't wait.

As you may have heard, the founder and guitarist for KoRn has become a Christian and quit KoRn. The above link is where his new site is going to be--the one that will have his talk to Vally Bible Fellowship on it. Now is that cool, or what.

He told VH1:
Welch's solo material -- which will be released under the name "Head" -- will not be Christian music. Rather, he said, he wants it to be an "extension of the Korn family."

FAQ

By Elliot Swan

Here's the answers to some questions you may be wondering (or have already asked me):

Q. Why'd you use pink?
A. Because pink is the new cool color. Seriously.

Q. What's "wornaut" mean?
A. No clue. It's just a name, nothing more, nothing less. I used to have an old s/n "wornautical," so when I won a domain name I got wornaut.

Q. Can I ask a question for your FAQ?
A. No.

OK fine, you can ask me a question. To do so, just email it to me.
